“Love is like playing the piano. First you must learn to play by the rules, then you must forget the rules and play from your heart.”– Unknown
I grew up in Eugene, Oregon, graduating from South Eugene High School. I continued my studies at Lane Community College, then transferred to Western Oregon University, where I received a Bachelor of Arts in Humanities with a Minor in Music.
My musical studies began at the age of five. I was a piano student of Carolyn McHan and Virginia Hawley Buhn and under their guidance, completed all ten levels of the Oregon Music Teachers Association Piano Syllabus. In college I was awarded the Ramsdell Clifton Kerns Scholarship while studying piano with Dr. Diane Baxter. As a special Independent Study Project I prepared a paper in Piano Pedagogy. I hold memberships in Music Teachers National Association and Oregon Music Teachers Association, Eugene District.
I accept Beginning and Elementary Students ages six and up. I find joy in sharing my love of music with my students.
